Olympian Dhanalakshmi Shekhar reached her hometown Trichy in Tamil Nadu on Saturday after participating in the Olympics from Tokyo.

Dhanalakshmi was shocked when she was told that her sister had passed away due to illness. The family members had decided not to give this information to Dhanalakshmi. They didn`t want Dhanalakshmi to know this and divert her attention from her game. When Dhanalakshmi was told that her sister had died, she burst into tears. Somehow his relatives tried to handle Dhanalakshmi.

She said Tamil Nadu has started getting good representation in sports. "Earlier, not many players from Tamil Nadu participated in the Olympics, but gradually it changed and I am sure this number will increase in future," he said.

Moments after the athlete spoke, the people present there were surprised to hear Dhanalakshmi crying as soon as she came to know that her sister died of illness. But her mother decided not to give this information to Dhanalakshmi, because she did not want Dhanalakshmi to know about it and divert her attention from her game.

Dhanalakshmi is considered a rising face in athletics from Tamil Nadu. In such a situation, her mother Usha and other family members knew the importance of participating and playing in the Olympics, so she did not inform Dhanalakshmi about her sister`s death.
